Comprehensive assessment

For questions that need a broader view

Psychological symptoms don’t always fit neatly into a single diagnosis. Attention, anxiety, mood, trauma, autism, learning, personality, and cognitive factors may overlap or interact.

Rather than assuming a diagnosis in advance, the evaluation considers developmental history, current functioning, medical and psychological history, and multiple possible explanations.

Who provides evaluations: Psychological testing is provided by Mason Anglin, PsyD, a Registered Psychological Associate (PSB94029529), under the supervision of Youssef Nakhla, PsyD, a licensed psychologist (PSY 36042), at Cogniscribe Psychology.

How it works

What to expect from an assessment

Initial discussion of concerns and goals

We begin with a thoughtful conversation to understand the challenges, history, and goals you (or your child) are facing, so the evaluation fits your needs.

The evaluation

Clinical interviews, standardized testing, and careful observation, paced thoughtfully so you are comfortable and the results are accurate.

Feedback session & written report

Every evaluation includes a feedback session, where results are reviewed in clear, straightforward language, and a written report with practical recommendations for next steps.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know which diagnosis I’m being evaluated for?

No. A comprehensive evaluation is often most useful when the diagnosis is uncertain.

Can an evaluation assess several conditions at once?

Yes. When clinically appropriate, assessment can consider multiple diagnostic possibilities.

What if previous diagnoses have been inconsistent?

The evaluation reviews previous information while independently considering current symptoms, history, and alternative explanations.

Is a diagnostic evaluation the same as therapy?

No. Assessment evaluates symptoms, functioning, and diagnostic questions; psychotherapy is ongoing treatment.

Where does testing happen?

At the Fair Oaks office, by telehealth, or a combination, depending on what is clinically appropriate.

Psychological testing is provided by Mason Anglin, PsyD, a Registered Psychological Associate (PSB94029529), under the supervision of Youssef Nakhla, PsyD, a licensed psychologist (PSY 36042), at Cogniscribe Psychology.
