About cognitive testing

Understanding how you think and learn

Cognitive and intellectual testing measures abilities such as verbal and nonverbal reasoning, working memory, processing speed, and attention. Results describe a profile of strengths and weaknesses rather than a single number.

An evaluation can inform school planning, giftedness or intellectual disability questions, and broader diagnostic questions. When concerns are primarily medical or neurological, we may recommend a neuropsychological evaluation and help you find the right referral.

Who provides evaluations: Psychological testing is provided by Mason Anglin, PsyD, a Registered Psychological Associate (PSB94029529), under the supervision of Youssef Nakhla, PsyD, a licensed psychologist (PSY 36042), at Cogniscribe Psychology.

What’s included

What we may assess

Reasoning

Verbal and nonverbal reasoning and problem solving.

Memory & attention

Working memory, learning and recall, and sustained attention.

Processing speed

How quickly and accurately information is handled, and how that shows up day to day.

Every evaluation includes a written report and a feedback session. Findings are reviewed with you in a feedback session and summarized in a written report with recommendations.

How it works

What to expect from an assessment

Initial discussion of concerns and goals

We begin with a thoughtful conversation to understand the challenges, history, and goals you (or your child) are facing, so the evaluation fits your needs.

The evaluation

Clinical interviews, standardized testing, and careful observation, paced thoughtfully so you are comfortable and the results are accurate.

Feedback session & written report

Every evaluation includes a feedback session, where results are reviewed in clear, straightforward language, and a written report with practical recommendations for next steps.
